Giles County’s first vineyard is expanding ⎸ Bluefield Daily Telegraph

GILES, Va. — Giles County’s first vineyard is expanding and will include a winery.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Thursday that JBR Vineyards, LLC will invest more than $250,000 to construct a farm winery and tasting room, creating two new jobs.

The vineyard was planted in 2006 and Giles County will match a $5,000 state grant for the project.

“JBR Vineyard’s continued growth and investment in Giles County is great news for Virginia’s rural areas and agriculture sector overall,” said Governor McAuliffe. “Investments like these create jobs and open new markets for agritourism in the region. Today’s announcement is a great win for Virginia’s agriculture industry as we continue with our ongoing efforts to build and diversify the new Virginia economy.”

Through this expansion, JBR will use over 14 tons of Virginia-grown grapes in its wines over the next three years, McAuliffe said.
